The concept I am attempting to address here can be very academic and I am not qualified as a linguist or musicologist. The concept can also appear to be extremely dry and, well, academic. The sort of project that requires tedious analysis to do thoroughly and at its end, if the idea seemed even remotely interesting at the start, everyday people shrug and give the old, “so, what?”
I’d like to approach this concept from my angle of musician and filmmaker - that is, with an expression through music and a strong sense of story always in mind - and to give a strong nod to the folks who devote their time to serious, academic study of this idea.
My sense is that there’s an interesting story to tell here, one that does not require a PhD to enjoy. Let’s see.
